Geminids Meteor Shower

From my various information sources, it seems this Geminids meteor shower is quite astonishing - intensifying in radiance every year and not originating from a passing comet(source:Wikipedia) . I'm looking forward to it tonight or in the first few hours of 14 December 2010. If I'm lucky, I would be able to observe my first meteor shower. Hope its observable : ) .

-----------------------------------------------After A Few Days--------------------------------------------

Well,I didn't get even a glimpse of the meteor shower. Only thing I got was fatigue and a bit of nagging from my family. I only get to see it online. Here's a few :

I do NOT proclaim any of these images are of mine or of self creation (just to state my point and to avoid any conflicts). They're pretty wonderful from just any point of view. I'm just disappointed I didn't manage to get a shot at it. Oh well, better luck next time.

A Wise Old Teacher

I met him at a local gym one day. I helped him out over there a few times;lending him a hand with the weights. From the way he spoke, I knew he was an English teacher or at least a professional. I asked him his name and to my astonishment, he was actually my sister's English tuition teacher. (The name of the the teacher is kept confidential for privacy reasons). His about 60 years old and a retired English teacher of S.M.K. Methodist (A.C.S.) Sitiawan back in his days. He taught my current English teachers before! From what I heard from my sister he would use a ruler(a metal one probably) to hit his students knuckles for any English mistakes. That's gotta hurt! Here's a quote from this wise old English Teacher:

"I like teaching but I dislike correcting my students mistakes. I correct them but they repeatedly do them again. Well, that's life, we do mistakes, correct them and repeat them again."

If I remembered correctly that's what he said. I don't think that's exactly what he said but the message's there. Think about it and it really makes lots of sense. Many mistakes we humans do big or small are done once again. Maybe it's because of our lackadaisical and nonchalant attitude. That's human; an imperfect being.

What's Up with 10/10/10?

It's been quite a while now since I've blogged. Well this time, I'm giving my opinion on this very date. Many newlyweds planned and proceeded with their wedding ceremony on 10/10/10 thinking it as an auspicious date. In contrast, my country's religious groups say that the date it really isn't auspicious at all. From my point of view, I consider this date A special date as it only occurs once every century. That goes the same for 1/1/1, 2/2/2, 3/3/3, 4/4/4, 5/5/5, 6/6/6, 7/7/7, 8/8/8, 9/9/9, 11/11/11 and 12/12/12 that occurs respectively with the year. But if you think in a different perspective which is that these dates occur in a row following an 88 years cycle, these dates would really special and a tad auspicious. Futhermore , in Chinese beliefs the number 8 symbolises

That's all for now. Gotta study for the exams. BB and happy 10/10/10.

UPDATE ON 21/10/2010
About the same topic, there's another date auspicious to couples which is 20/10/2010. See how the date says twenty ten twice? In my country more couples have their wedding dinner on this date instead than on 10/10/10.
I consider unique as this occurs 2 more times in the 2nd millennium which is 20/11/2011 and 20/12/2012. The next time this will happen is in the 3rd millennium. The world should commemorate these dates as it only occurs 12 times in a millennium. BB.

A Funny Day Indeed

Here's a funny event that happened in my class last year, during one of my art lessons. It started out when the teacher arrived and entered my classroom,a male teacher to be exact. He want us to draw a 3D perspective sketch. He then showed us how to draw it and this is when the funny part happens. My teacher was talking aloud to the entire class while swinging his marker pen around. By accident he POKED the face of a girl he was walking pass and the girl retaliated by SLAPPING the marker pen. Everyone including myself kind of ROFL(roll over the floor laughing) and LOL(laugh out loud). The teacher glared at the student and said a bit of Islam prayers and words meaning he was amazed/spooked/OhMyGoodness..... that something like this can happen whereas the girl just smiled a little. That was one of the funniest things that I experienced in my life.

Internet Provider Issue

IT started during the 2010 Chinese New Year holidays on Monday(15th of February). When I woke up this morning my siblings told me there wasn't any internet connection. A week past then came Tuesday(23rd of February 2010). On that Tuesday, I woke up and to my surprise the internet connection came back. I log in to Facebook and some of my friends complained about the one week internet connection problem. All of them cussed at TmNet(too bad I can't show it though for privacy reasons). It continued as so for about three days until on that week's Friday(26th February 2010) at about 1.30 p.m. the internet connection is gone again. Oddly,on the same day at 6.00 p.m. the internet came back and stayed so until 10.30p.m. After that, once again, totally no internet connection until 7th of March 2010 at 9.15 p.m. then connected once again. Unfortunately, once again after that day internet was disconnected until 4.30p.m. then reconnected.

My family tried to contact TmNet twice both on the first and second weeks' Friday respectively. On the second time we tried to rebate the two weeks of no internet connection. We contacted their help service and they ask us to go to the technical department of their company but then in that department they ask us to go to the billing department. This is outrageously foolish of them. They should have told us to go to the billing department in the first place. Although they told us to contact the billing department but we were unable to reach them.

Frustrated and fed up of them, we stopped contacting them. Miraculously, the internet connection came back and stayed as normal. Oddly this second weak of internet connection issue did not affect my friends except for a few who have experienced the same problems. To wrap it up, internet connection returned and stay so on the 8th of March 2010.

This is the "heart-rendering" and fairly troublesome event was caused by metal thieves that took some internet cables near the outskirts of my neighbourhood. I couldn't be sure why on the second weak a few of my friends and I had no internet connection whereas most others have. There have been a few words from my friends that the internet is faster now while others said it was slower. I find it a bit faster than before the Chinese New Year holidays. Either way, all is well and I'm happily using the internet as I typed this.

Lousy Electric Supply

Yup! As the title says, really lousy electric supply. Yesterday at about 5 o'clock in the afternoon, my house had 'almost' no electricity. When I mean 'almost' I really mean it because I can still turn on my television but the lights couldn't except for the orange lights. It's very odd because I thought televisions use up more electricity than fluorescent light bulbs. A few smaller electrical appliances that can still work includes my hand phone recharger, Astro decoder and a wall fan. Besides that, the weirdest part was that some of my other neighbours have full electricity but weaker than usual.

On the following day which is today, another electric supply problem occurred at 4.30 p.m. . This time it was a black out. It lasted about 10 seconds. How weird is that? It hasn't even been 12 hours yet and it happen again. As I'm typing this post, the street lamps in my neighborhood are still down because of the damn black out and not even one damn technician came and check it out as if giving a chance for any burglars to break in. In short, my country's electricity company is undependable, inefficient and most of all, useless!!!!!
